Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation – Intramural Sports and Facilities, the Coordinator of Campus Recreation – Intramural Sports and Facilities is responsible for the development and administration of a comprehensive Intramural Sports program, assists with general facility operations, and risk management projects.
This position supports the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation – Intramural Sports and Facilities with the oversight of all aspects of the Intramural Sports Program, including development, operations and public presence. This position provides support in planning, and facilitating regular CPR trainings for all staff and is required to keep accurate records of all current staff certifications.
Provides leadership, management, and supervision for assigned campus recreation facilities and personnel, as a Facility Supervisor. This individual will serve as a supervisor of student employees, interns, temporary non-student employees and various facilities for Campus Recreation. Required to work nights and weekends on a regular basis.
Bachelor’s degree in recreation management, sports administration, higher education administration or related field.
Minimum of 1 year of successful experience in sports or recreation administration or within a closely related field (GA experience considered).

Serve as a primary safety and risk manager for areas of oversight in the Department and spend considerable time developing policies and procedures in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation – Intramural Sports and Facilities. Serve as secondary risk manager for the Department in all capacities.
Lifting equipment ranging from 10lbs. - 400lbs. is required, with assistance from others or from machinery. Preferred: Master’s degree in recreation management, sports administration, higher education administration or related field. Understanding of the comprehensiveness of administering an Intramural Sports Program at a large university. Prior experience administering intramural sports and or experience in sports officiating.
Experience with event planning/execution and oversight.
Knowledge of the following, supported by skills and abilities: current trends in Campus Recreation/Intramural Sports, as well as campus recreation trends related to “student run” facilities grounded in student development theory; relevant equipment, policies, procedures, programs and strategies/best practices associated with administering a comprehensive program of recreational activities in a university setting; meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction through needs assessment; equipment/supplies purchasing; computers and related software; ability and interest in serving as a mentor for students; principles and methods for training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups and the measurement of training effectiveness; principles and processes for performance management grounded in accountability; possess strong integrity; ability to maintain accurate records and files; strong follow through; ability to make sound independent judgments and possess proven critical thinking skills
Experience assisting with developing student management models, grounded in student development theory. Facilitator/training experience, public speaking/presentation skills.
Ability to adapt to learning in-house systems of management/logistics and robust daily operations of campus recreation programs/facilities, and focused experience in Intramural Sports and Facilities Supervision.
CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor certified. Must be willing to become CPR Instructor Certified.
Experience with EMS scheduling software and IM Leagues software.
