General Purpose: The Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development will report to the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance in the development and implementation of student-athlete development initiatives for all student-athletes including life skills programming and community service initiatives. This position will also serve as a co-advisor of the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) and assist as needed with other student-athlete groups, coordinate institutional and non-institutional awards, collaborate with the athletics business office regarding student-athlete travel communication to university academic units, and collaborate with campus partners on programming efforts.
Primary Duties to include:
In coordination with the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and in collaboration with campus partners, create and implement programming that supports the personal and professional growth of the student-athletes.
Organize and coordinate educational and training sessions and initiatives.
Serve as the main point of contact for all pre and post term housing with campus partners.
Serve as the co-advisor to the SAAC and act as liaison with other student-athlete affinity groups, as needed.
Coordinate annual captain’s elections for each athletics team.
Manage annual student-athlete surveys.
Assist in the planning and implementation of student-athlete events, including the Welcome Back BBQ, Student-Athlete Acapella Concerts and Student-Athlete Banquet.
Responsible for communication with student-athletes about athletics department events, initiatives, and collaborations with campus partners including the student-athlete newsletter.
Oversee the identification and nomination of student-athletes for academic and service-based awards and scholarships.
Serve as the internal resource for community service initiatives.
Responsible for monitoring of student-athlete participation awards and complimentary tickets.
Oversee approval of travel rosters and itineraries for away competitions.
Evaluate and approve outside competition, student-athlete employment, and promotional activities.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Qualifications: •Strong organizational and communication skills, oral and written. Ability to think critically and strategically about all aspects of the operation. •Strong emphasis on creativity, learning and developing holistically. Proficient editorial and writing skills. •Knowledge of MS Office, MS Excel, and Google Documents required. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations. •Commitment to confidentiality and integrity. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines. •Preferred Education and Experience: Knowledge of ARMS Roster Management Software, preferred. Master’s and/or law degree and two years of student-athlete development experience at a Division I institution.
