Iowa State University is accepting applications for a Director of Track/Cross Country Operations. This position will work under the direction of the Director of Track & Field/Cross Country and will coordinate the daily operations and administrative functions for the Division I men's and women's track and cross country programs with a commitment to adhering to university, Big 12 Conference and NCAA policies. This position will not serve in any coaching capacity or attend practices. Responsibilities may include: coordinate facility needs, practice calendar, and competition schedules; coordinate team travel and logistics; help with pre-meet and race-day operations; assist with campus recruiting visits; assist with monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes; oversee the admissions process and housing for incoming student-athletes; handle all administrative and business functions for the program; serves as the main liaison with other units; assist with managing the budget.
Contribute to an environment conducive to the welfare and academic success of the student-athletes. Establish and maintain effective interactions with the students, colleagues, university community, alumni, media and the public. This position requires exceptional organizational, decision making and communication skills. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. Requires the ability to work some evenings and weekends and occasional travel with the team.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Directly related experience in athletics administration, sports operations, or high level administrative support.
Experience with collegiate athletics administrative/operational processes.
Experience managing large group logistics.
Experience with meet management and understanding of track/cross country operations.
