McKendree University is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director for Sports Information. This is a full-time position located in Lebanon, Illinois and reports to the Sports Information Director.
Under the supervision of the Sports Information Director, this position plays a key role in the messaging and branding of McKendree University Athletics through various platforms to successfully promote its student-athletes, coaches and athletic department. The University is a member of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Valley Conference, which is one of the premier Division II leagues in the country. This position also assists with management of home athletic events, along with training and working with three graduate assistants and numerous student workers.
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field. Minimum of at least two years of full-time experience in collegiate/professional athletics communications. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong graphic design and digital media background. Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and NCAA LiveStats and Stat Crew software. Possess effective writing, editing, computer, organizational, interpersonal, oral communication and mentoring skills. Demonstrated ability to think creatively and engage a variety of stakeholders, particularly students and other on-campus groups. Ability to build relationships and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Able to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment that includes night and weekend hours with some travel. Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a related field. Knowledge of working with Sidearm websites. Knowledge of NCAA rules. Digital photography experience.
