The University of Virginia is a highly competitive Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence. The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Assistant Coach for the Women's Rowing program.
The Assistant Coach is responsible for overseeing various aspects of the Women's Rowing program, including (but not limited to): instructing, counseling, recruiting, travel arrangements, monitoring student-athlete academic performance, preparing training sessions, participation in the design of game plans and strategies, overseeing compliance requirements, and other administrative functions. This position includes a considerable amount of travel for recruiting purposes.
Education: Bachelor's Degree.
Experience: Some experience in coaching Rowing/Crew at the collegiate and/or professional level.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the sport program and the ability to teach technical aspects of the sport. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work well under pressure and with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations regarding Rowing/Crew.
Licensure: Valid driver's license required.
Education:Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Sports Administration, or a related field.
Experience: Student-athlete and coaching experience at the intercollegiate level. Student-athlete and coaching experience at the intercollegiate Division I level. Student-athlete and coaching experience with NCAA and/or conference championship competition. Athletic and coaching experience at the professional level. Athletic accolades with regard to the sport of Rowing at the intercollegiate or higher level. Administrative experience (i.e. budgeting, program planning, travel, etc.) at the intercollegiate or higher level.
