This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Athletic Facilities & Sport Operations with management of CMS Athletic Facilities, game day and championships administration, scheduling, hiring and supervision of student workers and game day staff, and works within compliance requirements of all applicable rules and regulations.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the role of athletics in the liberal arts college curriculum, and the integration of the student-athlete and coaching staff into the overall educational experience offered at The Claremont Colleges.
The Joint CMS Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation Program is comprised of student-athletes from Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, and Scripps Colleges and offers a comprehensive program of regular physical education, intramural, recreational, club and varsity sports. CMS varsity teams compete in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), as a member of NCAA Division III. The Program is comprised of 21 varsity sports (10 men’s, 11 women’s) and supports a student population of over 3,200 and a student-athlete population of approximately 530.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Director of Athletic Facilities & Sport Operations, the coordinator works both independently and collaboratively to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities:
Assist the Director of Athletic Facilities & Sport Operations in the management, operations, scheduling and maintenance of all athletic facilities.
Assist with the oversight of the cleaning, maintenance schedules, work orders and equipment installation for the athletic facilities in conjunction with Claremont McKenna’s Facilities and Campus Services.
Serve as the game day administrator for assigned CMS athletic competitions and special events, including SCIAC and NCAA Championships, as well as other externally contracted events hosted by CMS.
Assist the Director of Athletic Facilities & Sport Operations in the coordination of all CMS varsity practice and game schedules. Coordinate with CMS Recreation staff to manage recreation, intramural and club sport schedules.
Plan, schedule, supervise and evaluate the operations of internal and external events ensuring efficient operation of all competitive contests for participants, officials, visiting institutions and fans.
Assist in the coordination of all institutional and third-party camps, clinics and events in collaboration with Claremont McKenna’s Events office and Facilities and Campus Services.
Assist with budgeting decisions that are consistent with the department’s decision-making and planning priorities.
Hire, train, schedule and manage student employees.
Regular attendance is considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment.
