The Head Coach will be responsible for managing all aspects of a competitive and successful NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Golf program with the primary responsibility being the planning and instruction of skills. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to the academic success of the student-athletes in the program that leads to graduation through a positive collegiate experience. Duties and Responsibilities • Compliance with NCAA, SAC and Wingate Policies and Regulations • Supervise, lead and mentor a Graduate Assistant • The head coach must be efficient at individualized and team instruction with emphasis on teaching all skills and strategies associated with the sport. • Meet roster requirements for both Men’s and Women’s teams • Recruit quality men and women student-athletes that are committed to the University’s mission • Commitment to and the management of program budget • Provide academic support and oversight for all student-athletes • Tournament scheduling • Practice and tournament planning and implementation • Player development and evaluation • In conjunction with the Director of Sport Performance, supervise an effective strength and conditioning program • Managing travel (booking hotels, vans, buses, etc.) Wingate University Open Position Description Head Golf Coach • Developing and maintaining positive alumni relations • Day to day program administration • Fundraising and community service activities • Other duties as assigned
• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred • Successful collegiate coaching and/or playing experience is preferred • Demonstrated expertise on course instruction and knowledge of the sport • Ability to recruit student-athletes that will be successful in the classroom and during competition • Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate student-athletes • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to produce and manage a competitive Men’s and Women’s Golf Team are important • Developing and maintaining positive alumni relations
