The University of Akron (UA), Office of Athletics, is seeking to fill the position of Deputy Director. The Deputy Director assists the Director of Athletics in the areas of internal and external management and is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) responsible for the day-to-day supervision, coordination, execution and evaluation of operations for UA Athletics.
Serves as second in command of the athletics department and will assist the Director of Athletics in strategically organizing and directing all administrative and other related activities consistent with the NCAA, MAC, all governing athletic rules, and university policies and missions
Provides strategic leadership, oversight, and employee supervision to external operations units, such as athletics communications, ticketing, branding, marketing and promotions, corporate sponsorships and all digital platforms; ensuring collaboration and alignment amongst these areas to unify, strengthen and diversify UA Athletics' identity, presence and community outreach
Provides strategic vision for annual giving programs and strategic goals to increase annual giving; working with the development team to increase former student-athlete giving
Develops and executes special events and community engagement to drive fundraising activities for the athletic department
Attends community engagement events alongside the Director of Athletics to represent UA Athletics in the community and ensure student-athletes and coaches are engaged in the community
Relevant Bachelor's degree
Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience within a NCAA athletic department
Working knowledge of NCAA rules, NCAA software, ticketing, and fundraising
Ability to work cooperatively and take direction from the Director of Athletics and/or his designee
Relevant Master's degree
