Duties: assist the head coach with all aspects of the team including: training, competing and scheduling; organizing and maintaining accurate inventory of softball equipment and uniforms; day-to-day coaching of student athletes; individual skill instruction; recruiting athletic and academically sound, competitive student athletes that can compete on the NCAA Division II level; establishing a strong working relationship with the University and surrounding community; following NCAA, Great American Conference and University rules and regulations; attending seminars, conferences and other professional development opportunities; assisting with pre-game preparations to include travel arrangements and player accommodations; assisting with recruiting including calling prospective student-athletes; evaluating high school and Junior College players; working cooperatively with personnel in the athletics department; attending department meetings and activities, and always representing the University positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school, club coaches, media and general public. Candidates will also assist in community and public relations, promotion of team within the community, and oversight of local practice facilities as well as serving as a positive role model for student athletes. Depending on qualifications, additional assignments could include: a teaching role, a member of the Student Activities team, and/or other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: demonstrate evidence of successful experience in coaching; record of success in collegiate and/or interscholastic softball coaching/playing; effective communication, excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong attention to detail; interpersonal skills and commitment to total success of students.
