Syracuse University invites applicants for the position of Assistant Field Hockey Coach. This is a full-time position which includes, but not limited to developing the technical skills of student-athletes, video analysis and tape exchange, scouting opponent, recruiting (domestic and international) and administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach. Assist with on field coaching and development of student-athletes in training and in competition.
This includes but is not limited to individual technical development, small group training, tactical planning, scouting of opponents, video analysis of opponents and video study with student-athletes as well as helping to develop and coach team dynamics and individual leadership.
Assist with domestic and international recruiting. Provide Head Coach with feedback on the evaluation of prospects. In addition, assist in the planning and recruiting efforts associated with official and unofficial visits.
Assist in all administrative tasks associated with recruiting (domestic and international), NCAA compliance, admissions, financial aid, coordination of student housing, alumni/fundraising events and team travel.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required and or successful experience playing and/or coaching field hockey at the Division I level or equivalent club levels.
Recommend 1-3 years of successful experience coaching field hockey at the Division 1 level or equivalent coaching/participation experience.
Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Familiarity with and ability to learn to operate various forms of video equipment.
Ability to multi-task and meet requirements under pressure and willingness to work extended hours.
Able to work efficient with many different individuals and be responsive to a variety of requests.
Must possess the ability to meet project deadlines and work under time constraint pressures.
High competency in field hockey skill and tactical instruction.
Good organizational, communication and computer skills.
Strong commitment and ability to work well with student-athletes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge of social media platforms.
