The University of Missouri is seeking to fill an Academic Coordinator position that will work with Olympic sport teams. This position will be responsible for providing academic counseling and support for student-athletes to ensure that they make satisfactory and appropriate academic progress towards graduation and meet all University, Conference and NCAA eligibility requirements. This includes counseling student-athletes concerning the institution's academic requirements, student support structure, NCAA progress towards degree requirements and SEC eligibility requirements; working closely with all academic units to monitor and evaluate each student-athlete's academic standing and progress towards major/degree completion; referring student-athletes to additional resources across campus; assisting with the evaluation and certification of student-athletes' NCAA continuing eligibility communicating regularly with colleagues to ensure compliance with eligibility requirements; planning/conducting student-athletes orientation sessions, facilitating/recommending tutoring for students, monitoring class attendance, and preparing periodic reports; participating in on-campus recruiting activities and other duties as assigned by the Director. Qualified applicants will have at a minimum, a Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. PREFERRED: Masters degree and 2-4 years full time experience as an academic coordinator for student-athletes; knowledge of NCAA and SEC rules and regulations, experience in developing and implementing successful programs for at risk students and/or student-athletes, excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail is critical. The successful candidate should possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, have the ability to work with students, faculty, coaches and administrators from diverse backgrounds and have the ability to work nights and weekends, as required.
