ROLE of the POSITION This position exists to provide assistance to the Head Volleyball Coach to assist and provide leadership, organization, technical expertise to, and training and development of, student athletes with respect to producing a competitive Volleyball program.
This position is expected to recruit student-athletes who understand the overall academic and athletic mission of UNLV and to assist in teaching student-athletes the game of volleyball; promote and foster academic success; contribute to the overall development of the athlete in meeting the intellectual and ethical challenges, values of life and responsible citizenship by enhancing critical thinking, leadership skills, and social integrity; and accomplish recognition as one of the top national Volleyball programs.
This position is responsible for maintaining a balance of loyalty and team building in order to continue to develop a positive environment for the student-athletes, community and the University. The Head Coach will assign the assistant coach certain on-the-court responsibilities, as well as, other responsibilities that are deemed necessary to effectively develop practice and game plans, recruiting calendars and academic and community related programs.
This position should have a basic knowledge of NCAA rules as it pertains to assigned job duties and the scope of employment. In addition, this position will be responsible for obtaining proper guidance or approval from Athletics Compliance, prior to participating in select activities, as defined by NCAA bylaws or institutional polices.
QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university and a minimum three (3) years of comparable professional experience. In addition, collegiate playing experience is required. Three (3) years of successful Volleyball coaching experience at the collegiate level or higher preferred. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
SALARY RANGE Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
