SUMMARY: This position is responsible to the Director of Athletics for representing the athletic department as Assistant Athletic Director/Senior Administrator in NCAA, RMAC and related institutional meetings and conferences. The duties and responsibilities of this position will be coordinating and assisting with the administration of internal and external operating procedures including budgets, personnel, planning, and advancement of the athletic program at large; assist with game day operations of athletic department events; management and administration of all aspects relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate experience for student-athletes and fans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Internal operations specifically related, but not limited to budgets, facilities, compliance, and event management of varsity, emerging, club sports. Serve on departmental senior staff for long and short-term planning policy and developing the budget.Direct oversight of varsity, emerging, club sports and annual personnel evaluations.Assist with travel and procurement for varsity, emerging and club sports. Maintain accurate records and receipts from each athletic program with regard to utilization of Event Card and Procurement Card. Serve on department senior staff with policy and procedure with regards to conduct and discipline.Assist Director of Athletics with NCAA certification process and implementation of CMU Title IX Gender Equity Plan.Engage in fund-raising activities for the program in conjunction with the head coach, athletic advancement and its representatives.Represent the college at professional meetings, alumni gatherings, campus activities and civic affairs as requested.Encourage an effective outreach program with student-athletes that provides benefit to the on and off-campus community.Remain in full compliance with NCAA, CMU, and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Rules.Maintain standards of performance consistent with departmental academic and athletic expectations as reflected in the mission statement, goals, objectives, departmental guidelines, and performance appraisal procedures.Assist in implementing a successful recruiting program to attract outstanding student-athletes to attend Colorado Mesa University.Attend and participate in department and staff meetings as requested/required.Assist compliance office coordinating and implement with the head coach eligibility requirements to ensure full compliance with governing rules and regulations, proper administration of financial aid for both prospective and enrolled student-athletes, facilities scheduling, and contest administration and game operations as necessary.Communicate regularly and maintain a positive and constructive working relationship with support staff in sports information, student services, sports medicine, business office, facilities/operations, compliance, athletic advancement, marketing, and ticket office, to assist in implementation of an efficient and effective program and department.Maintain, as appropriate, effective relationships with parents, alumni, friends of the program, and others toward the positive image and promotion of the program.Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Three years of experience in coaching and/or athletic administration experience at an NCAA institution or conference office.
Thorough understanding of NCAA, RMAC and CMU rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Demonstrated knowledge of basic principles of athletic administration and management, including experience developing long term and short-term plans for area of responsibility.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of employees, students, athletic professional organizations and the public, including groups in both a classroom and non-classroom setting.
Knowledge of NCAA and conference eligibility regulations. Preferred:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
Familiarity with NCAA Guidelines.
Knowledge of the Board of Trustees and CMU admission and retention standards MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to perform basic mathematical functions and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages as related to fiscal management. REASONING ABILITYStrategic and analytical reasoning skills are necessary. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. WORK ENVIRONMENTThe tasks involved with this position will be performed in a variety of environments, including an office environment, a classroom environment, and indoor and outdoor athletic facilities. The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to extremely noisy.
