Summary: Assist the Athletic Director in carrying out all assigned and auxiliary duties pertaining to the administration of the Maryville College Athletics Department. Specific duties include but are not limited to oversight of student-athlete health and safety, serving as a liaison to campus partners, developing community partnerships, ensuring compliance with NCAA, USA South Athletic Conference, and College policies and procedures; contract administration; strategic planning and assessment; budget planning; and personnel oversight.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •Oversee student-athletes health, safety, and performance initiatives including athletic training and strength and conditioning. •Maintain accurate record keeping, including team rosters and schedules. •Develop partnerships on campus for Athletic department sponsorships. •Assist in all aspects of the Athletic department’s compliance efforts for its 14 varsity sports and associated student-athletes within Maryville College, USA South Athletic Conference, and NCAA guidelines. •Responsible for submitting NCAA post season bids and oversight of USAS championship budgets as a host site and billing and expense collection of championships. •Serve as the liaison to the Registrar’s Office and Academic Support offices. •Assist with day-to-day monitoring and tracking of department and program budget expenditures. •Manage preseason student athlete meetings and monthly staff updates to provide educational opportunities in compliance for students. •Conduct quarterly educational workshops for athletics personnel on NCAA, USA South Athletic Conference, and campus-wide rules & regulations. •Assist in all phases of contract administration, such as contest contracts; reviewing vendor provided contracts and modifying as needed in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and policies of the College; and conducting technical reviews of contract terms and conditions with Athletics related documents. •Assist with the development, review, revision, and maintenance of Athletics Policies and Procedures including but not limited to Athletics summer camp programs, the Student-Athlete Handbook, and Athletic Employee Handbook. •Coordinate Athletics assessment efforts to align with College, Student Affairs, and departmental strategic and annual goals. Assist with development of departmental strategic and annual goals. •Assist with student success initiatives, including but not limited to serving on related committees; providing following up to concerning student behavior; liaison with Academic Support Center and academic support services for student-athletes; and advising Student Athlete Advisory Committee. •Primary sport supervisor for assigned teams, including oversight for related game day field and facilities components, and game management staff. •Oversee Summer Camps and responsible for laying groundwork for sport camp directors regarding budget, personnel, and scheduling of facilities. •Travel extensively (both local and extended). •Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. In the absence of the Athletic Director, the Assistant Athletic Director will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree required – Master’s preferred. Minimum of three years of experience in collegiate athletics administration required. Demonstrated understanding of Division III compliance requirements, contract administration, strategic planning, and assessment. Demonstrated experience with staff supervision.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A valid Tennessee Driver’s license is required, or ability to obtain one within 30 days. Must be current in American Red Cross CPR with AED and First Aid and Safety training.
