The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Department of Athletics invites applications in a national search for the position of Head Women’s Golf Coach. This full-time position is responsible for leading, managing and administering all aspects of the Division I women’s golf program in accordance with NCAA, conference and University rules and regulations while: 1) creating an atmosphere where graduation is facilitated through participation in intercollegiate athletics, 2) teaching student-athletes to be productive citizens who contribute to society for life, and 3) winning championships. The new head coach’s ability to achieve those three goals is facilitated by: 1) Access to some of Birmingham’s best golf facilities, 2) a fully funded scholarship budget, 3) the assistance of a full-time coach, and 4) competitive operating and recruiting budgets.

Minimum required experience: four years of related experience
Preferred experience: four years of successful collegiate golf coaching experience at the Division I level; professional playing experience; Division I golf playing experience
An understanding of and commitment to the fundamental role that intercollegiate athletics, when properly implemented, can play in the educational development of UAB student-athletes
Possession of a thorough knowledge of the game, a sophisticated understanding of coaching, and an ability to enhance player development
Leadership skills and the ability to manage team dynamics
Budget management experience
Ability to recruit qualified student-athletes to an academically competitive institution
Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA Division I rules
Ability to promote an atmosphere of compliance within the program and monitor the activities regarding compliance with assistant coach and other individuals involved with the program
Ability to create and foster existing relationships within the Birmingham golf community
Ability to motivate and develop student-athletes academically and athletically
Ability to work evening and weekend hours
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with computer applications and general office software
