This position is tasked with constant application of NCAA Bylaws to ambiguous and complex situations. Knowledge, interpretation, and expert advisement of the correct/allowed course of action is 100% necessary in each and every interaction with a coach (50+ individuals), student-athlete (450+), staff member (100+), external booster (unlimited), etc. On a daily basis, this individual provides interpretation, on average to 30 individuals ranging from the Athletic Director, Head and Assistant Coaches and other standard office personnel. The potential ramifications of an improper interpretation could have devastating impacts on students, employees, the department and ultimately the University's reputation. This individual is expected to be fluent in all aspects (bylaws) of the frequently revised, NCAA manual. This duty requires a high-level ability to research and respond to rules interpretation requests. It is imperative of this individual to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and implementing long-range program improvements.
