The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach. This is a contract, full-time position with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. Responsibilities and duties are as follows: Assist the Head Coach of Men’s Soccer with planning, development and administration of all phases of the Men’s Soccer program, recruitment and selection of student-athletes and managers, practice design, game scheduling, travel arrangements, cost management, procurement of supplies/equipment, interaction with support services and involvement in appropriate public relations/fundraising and promotional activities, and other duties to be designated by the Head Coach. The candidate must have a strong work ethic, be organized, detail orientated, proactive, and self-motivated. Candidate must be committed to a philosophy that emphasizes academic priorities for the student-athlete, and have the ability to understand how to guide, teach, and communicate with collegiate student-athletes—must have comprehension of the demands placed on a Division I student-athlete—both in the classroom and in the competitive arena—and the willingness to help them succeed in both. Emphasis is placed on the commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of UCLA, the Pacific-12 Conference and the NCAA. Candidate must possess the ability to work compatibly and cooperatively with the staff and personnel in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and other University units. *An offer of employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory pre-employment background check performed by Universal Background Screening and UCLA Athletics. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, with a minimum of four years of collegiate coaching experience at the Division I level and an ability to identify, recruit and train elite soccer athletes. In depth knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and a demonstratable history of compliance in this area; fiscal management, and effective communication skills with student-athletes, administrators, peers and the general public are required. |
