Responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Southeastern Community College NJCAA Division II M/W Soccer Program including but not limited to: assisting head coach during practices and directing practices in head coach’s absence, travel and recruitment, promotion and communications, monitoring program rules and expectations related to players’ academic, social and behavioral performance. Residence Advisor responsibilities include but are not limited to: supervision and management of assigned Soccer residence hall and/or one floor of a residence hall, assist in conflict resolution of any student-housing conflicts, facilitate and encourage a cooperative and considerate group living environment, operational and behavioral management of the residence facility and residents therein. These are twelve-month live in positions. TWO POSITIONS AVAILABLE First Assistant Position – Annual wage stipend of $18,000 and also includes pro-rated SCC benefits and full room and board. Second Assistant Position – Annual wage stipend of $11,000 and also includes full room and board – this position is not benefits- eligible. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Commitment to the comprehensive community college philosophy. • Follow College policies and procedures. • Work with head soccer coach to facilitate the SCC soccer program. • Assist head coach in planning and implementation of daily practice plan. • Assist in recruitment for the soccer program. • Responsible for evaluation of prospective student-athletes. • Assist head coach in individual instruction and skill improvement. • Assist head coach in public relations, community service, and any activities to improve the image of the program. • Assist or lead study tables and monitor student-athletes academic performance and progress. • Assist student-athletes with positive self esteem. • Assist head coach in maintaining discipline, and enforcing and encouraging acceptable behavior as established by the soccer program. • Serve as camp coach at summer soccer camp. • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration as necessary. • Assist with fundraising events to support the soccer program. • Other duties as assigned. The Assistant Soccer Coach/Residence Advisors will abide by the employment contract and relevant policies and guidelines of the Board of Trustees. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree preferred. • USSF D license or higher preferred. • Prior experience in coaching soccer required; prior experience or involvement with athletics at the intercollegiate level, preferred. • Valid driver’s license. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (listening, speaking, and writing) are required. • Ability to comprehend and abide by NJCAA, ICCAC, and SCC policies, guidelines, and procedures. • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with local and regional media, students, SCC employees and the general public. • Computer literate including ability to use Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point). • Have the ability and desire to work cooperatively in a team environment, be open to, flexible, and supportive to change as necessary. • Organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to perform duties in an efficient manner. • Mobility throughout the college campuses, district, state, and regional area as directed. • Local, regional, state, and national travel required. The Assistant Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach must have the ability and mobility to serve a rural service area; travel required. Must be able to work on a basis of “available as work demands” in addition to a fixed schedule. |
