The Mid-American Conference is accepting applications and nominations for the position of Associate Commissioner for Business Operations / Chief Financial Officer. The individual selected will report to the Commissioner and be part of the senior management team. Responsibilities include: I Accounting - Perform daily tasks associated with accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and payroll functions including processing of billings and collections; processing of payments for disbursements; processing of monthly payroll; assist with processing of officials’ payments. Also responsible for preparing account reconciliations/journal entries, preparing interim financial statements as requested, preparing annual 1099 forms, maintaining fixed asset ledger, and coordination of annual audit. II Financial Reporting - Responsible for the preparation of the annual budget for approval by the Council of Presidents, oversight of actual operational expenses, providing financial analysis, forecasting, and other reports for the Commissioner / Council of Presidents as needed. III Compliance Reporting - Responsible for the completion of Form 990 and filing with IRS, completion of Forms 5500 and filing with IRS, and preparation of annual NCAA conference grant report. IV Benefits Administration - Responsible for the enrollment of employees in Conference benefit programs and regular review of programs for adequacy, affordability, and legal compliance. Act as liaison for all employee benefit issues with the appropriate agency. V Human Resources - Maintain employee handbook and travel policies. Monitor employee time-off and maintain Conference personnel records. Coordinate hiring, onboarding, and staff departures. VI Other - Review and provide recommendations of Conference investments and insurance coverages. Supervise relationships with banks, other financial institutions, and service providers. Manage issues related to physical office space and equipment. Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. Demonstrated record of effective financial management, experience with or strong knowledge of financial regulations for 501 (c) (3) organizations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and show initiative and collaboration with various constituents. Must be proficient with technology, creative in providing solutions to complex and sensitive issues, and can work independently and in a team setting to efficiently meet established goals and deadlines.
