Duties Include: Conducting holistic clinical psychosocial assessments of clients experiencing low vision; creating and implementing integrated treatment plans based on assessments and skillfully use new technology (particularly ETO database software) to assess student outcomes and evaluate success of treatment plans; offering feedback about goals and help identify skills for client success and generate new ideas and find ways to overcome obstacles by referring to BIA internal programs; providing counseling about vocational options and personal matters; facilitating communication between clients and support structure and create opportunities for family support; creating and maintaining a strategic guide of community resources and connect Braille Institute clients with appropriate social service organizations in the community in order to support treatment plans as well as serve as a liaison with organizations on behalf of clients; establishing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and community partners; managing student crisis interventions; attending and participating in departmental meetings and trainings.

Master’s degree in social work is required and strong background in community-based organizations (CBO’s); two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a social services environment; advanced knowledge of current practices in counseling and assessment and advanced crisis intervention techniques; preferred experience or knowledge with visually impaired individuals; knowledge with online education programs, or other technology-mediated instruction preferred; ability to multi-task, market and implement a wide variety of programs for a diverse population; excellent communication and computer skills are essential; excellent organization, training and presentation skills; exceptional interpersonal skills, professionalism, and ability to creatively problem solve. Bi-lingual is preferred; working knowledge of standard office computer software is required. |
