Under the direction of the Head Men’s Soccer Coach, the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach will support and enhance the mission of the San Diego State University Athletic Department. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the direction of the men’s soccer program, performing a variety of coaching functions related to the sport of soccer in the Athletic Department. These coaching functions include, but are not limited to the following: coaching, recruiting, administration, academics, event planning/organization, and fundraising.
Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree.
USSF National License (D or higher) or National Soccer Coaches’ Association of America Advanced Diploma (Premier or Master Coach)
Three or more years of experience as a Coach or Director of Operations in NCAA Division I, II, or III, or professional leagues.
Ability to obtain valid California driver’s license within 10 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
Four or more years as a coach in NCAA Division I, professional or other high-level competition.
Division I playing experience.
National and international recruiting experience, especially in Southern California.
Organized in management of soccer program.
Knowledge of conference rules and regulations.
Experience with community outreach programs.
Master’s degree in related field.
Additional Salary Information: This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits eligible, temporary position with an expected end date of January 18, 2022, with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
This appointment will be for a 10-mo classification (2383). Incumbent works 10 months per year and is paid over 12 months, with July 2-19, 2021 and December 8, 2021 – January 18, 2022 as the approximate off periods.
