Manager of Sports Medicine

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

• Establish policies and procedures and managing all aspects of the sports medicine program with primary emphasis on the health, safety, and welfare of student-athletes
• Evaluate, diagnose and treat student-athlete injuries, making recommendations for, and assisting with the rehabilitation process.
• Provides training in the prevention and on-going care of athletic injuries
• Provides training in physical conditioning and strength building
• Reports findings of injury evaluations to appropriate source, i.e., Director of Athletics, Coaches, etc.
• Confers/consults with student family members, physicians, etc. when appropriate
• Staff all home scheduled practices and collegiate events.
• Works cooperatively with the team/school physician and under his/her direction in respect to: physician and/or hospital referrals; reconditioning of injured athletes; treatment of athletes; return of athletes to competition
• Prepares an annual budget for medical supplies and equipment.
• Manage the operation of the athletic training room

  EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE:

  • National Athletic Trainer Association Certification
  • NYS License
  • Bachelor's Degree; Master's Degree preferred
  • Advanced First Aid and CPR & AED Cards from American Red Cross/Instructor Certifications

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABLILTIES:

  • Geographical knowledge of district schools
  • Ability to use effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse group of students, parents, faculty and staff
