Centenary College of Louisiana seeks a dynamic Director of Athletics and Recreation to provide leadership for the College’s NCAA Division III athletics programs, club sports, and campus fitness programs. Centenary College is a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) and has over twenty varsity sports programs (more information available at www.gocentenary.com). As a member of the President’s Cabinet, the Director of Athletics and Recreation is responsible for strategic planning and oversight for all intercollegiate programs, staff, and facilities. In addition, the Director:
serves as the College’s principal representative in the field of intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the College President regarding compliance matters and NCAA and conference membership.
ensures compliance with the NCAA DIII Manual, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools guidelines for athletics programs.
collaborates with academic departments to ensure academic success for student-athletes, including timely graduation.
coordinates all institutional effectiveness programs for the Athletics and Recreation department.
develops and manages athletics and fitness facilities, including the Centenary Fitness Center.
ensures that all varsity sports teams reach specified annual recruiting goals.
provides fiscal oversight of the intercollegiate athletics and recreation programs, intramural programs, club sports, and related activities.
assures that departmental planning and decisions promote a full commitment to increased diversity in student involvement with athletics, gender equity, and successful athletics experiences by all students who participate.

Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience (or advanced degree and three years of experience) in intercollegiate athletics, coaching, athletics administration, and/or intercollegiate sports medicine.
Division III Intercollegiate Athletics experience at a winning program as a player, coach, experienced athletics administrator or trainer.
Energetic leader with strong motivational skills and the ability to delegate effectively.
Experience with development and responsible management of a multi-faceted, dynamic budget.
Experience integrating athletics and recreation into the campus community.
Experience with sports medicine and/or fitness/wellness programming.
Previous coaching, preferably in DIII athletics.
Experience at a private, selective, residential, liberal arts college.
