Description General Information -Compensation may consist of a tuition waiver, an annual stipend and meal plan for a full-time Graduate Assistant (GA) -Typically, a full-time GA is required to work 20 hours per week from mid-August to mid-May -Accepted into a Master’s Degree Program at Hood College is required. Under the general direction of the Head Coach for Men’s Soccer and Director of Athletics, the Graduate Assistant for Men’s Soccer is responsible for training and recruiting student-athletes. Additionally, 20 hours each week will be dedicated one or more areas in athletics: fundraising, game management, alumni relations, fitness center supervision, intramurals, event planning, sports information, and social media. Instruction should include, but not limited to the rules, strategies, and techniques relating to practice and competition in this sport. The Graduate Assistant will also support the mission and goals of the Athletic Department.

Education Bachelor’s degree and full acceptance into one of the Hood College’s graduate programs required. Proven successful coaching, with 2-3 years’ experience preferred, preferably at the collegiate level or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills required. Technology Skills Strong computer proficiency in internet applications, SportsWare, Google System and Microsoft Office Suite Productivity products, such as, Microsoft Word, Excel & Powerpoint. Proficient with internet and email; and ability to learn new applications quickly including organization-wide information systems and department-specific software applications. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret medical documents and NCAA guidelines. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customer, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts timely and accurately, either manually by using a calculator which apply to athletic trainers. Ability to apply concepts to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to hypothesize, draw conclusions, and support conclusions.
