Saint Xavier University (SXU), a current member of the Chicago Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) and the NAIA located in a scenic residential neighborhood in south Chicago, invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Communications. The University’s athletic program fields 19 intercollegiate and serves almost nearly 500 student-athletes. Reporting directly to and working with the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications will lead and direct all aspects of the sports information and implement a comprehensive athletics communication plan to enhance Cougar Athletics brand exposure. This position provides timely, accurate information to meet the needs of Cougar fans, build campus and community interest, and tell the SXU athletics story. This position will serve as the official source of communications for the Saint Xavier University Athletics Department. Job Description: Responsible for content generation and management of the athletics department website and social media channels. Manage and maintain social media accounts for department and oversee the management of sport accounts. Be innovative in storytelling on social media for department and teams. Assist in content planning for assigned sports. Write and edit various department communication materials, press releases, game notes and content for the department’s website. Effectively tell the story of sports visually, on the website and on social media Work closely with athletics staff to promote stories of the department through digital and social media platforms. Coordinate season previews and reviews, nominate and promote studentathletes/coaches for awards. Work with local media to promote SXU Athletics and Cougar student athletes. Oversee student workers and assist with gameday staffing. Travel with teams as needed. Coordinate photography for department needs. Serve as representative of SXU to the CCAC sports information and COSIDA. Create and execute digital storytelling methods for the department. Explore innovative and creative ways to tell the Saint Xavier athletics story The position requires some travel and working evenings, weekends and select holidays in addition to daily office hours.
