Missouri Western State University located in St Joseph, Missouri, 45 minutes north of Kansas City, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach.
Missouri Western is an NCAA Division II institution, which successfully competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) in 16 sports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The responsibilities for this full-time position include, but are not limited to, assisting the head coach with all phases of a competitive Division II women’s volleyball program in accordance with Missouri Western, MIAA and NCAA rules, regulations and policies, as well as a commitment to student-athlete personal and academic welfare.
Duties include assisting the head coach in recruiting quality student-athletes, on-court coaching, practice planning, monitoring academic progress of student-athletes and other duties as assigned by the head coach.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: Candidate should be knowledgeable about NCAA Division II, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and NCAA compliance. •Fundamentals of Women’s Volleyball •Physical Conditioning and Health •Budgeting •Coaching of athletic sports •Computer applications •Organizational skills •Strong Communication skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Bachelor’s degree; at least two years’ coaching and/or collegiate volleyball playing experience
NCAA Division I or II level experience; working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Positions in this classification typically require: kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and seeing.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperatures.
