Senior Associate Athletic Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion/Organizational Effectiveness

| The Senior Associate Athletic Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion/Organizational Effectiveness (SADDEI) reports directly to the Director of Athletics and will serve as a member of the Leadership Team. This position will provide leadership through promoting and fostering a community that outwardly respects differences, actively embraces inclusivity, and prioritizes equity and access for all stakeholders within Maryland Athletics regardless of differences by protected class or differences broadly identified. This position will establish organizational effectiveness practices that build capacity, enhance alignment, transform experiences, and reflect Maryland Athletics’ commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. As the department’s Diversity Officer, this position will lead the implementation of strategic diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies as well as learning initiatives across ICA. The SADDEI will actively work with and engage staff, coaches, student-athletes and external constituents regarding DEI education, supporting dialogue, and building relationships. In addition, SADDEI will oversee Human Resources and influence effective practices for the recruitment and retention of staff and coaches such as attracting highly talented, broad and diverse candidate pools when hiring open positions; enhancing the on-boarding process; and providing resources that help staff and students acclimate to the University and local communities. This position will lead efforts to increase diverse representation of ICA coaches, staff and administrators to reflect the growing diversity of the student body and scholar-athlete community. Furthermore, this role will direct and administer organizational effectiveness practices that build diversity, equity and inclusion intelligence and embed practices among individuals, groups and the department. Master’s degree and 5-7 years of demonstrated leadership experience in developing initiatives and programs in equity, diversity and inclusion which includes evidence of strategic agility. Proven track record of facilitating conversations and mediating diverse opinions to address shared needs and concerns. Experience responding to events that warrant a high level of understanding and appropriate reaction to issues associated with equity, diversity and inclusion in academia. Five (5) years of supervisory experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Higher Education experience preferred. |
