ROLE of the POSITION
UNLV Football’s move into a brand new $2.1 billion NFL stadium, the recent hiring of new football and men’s basketball coaches, and a storied men’s basketball program set this marketing position apart from any in the country.

The Director of Marketing and Game Presentation’s primary duty is oversight over football and basketball game production. Planning and directing football and basketball games to create high energy environments and memorable fan experiences are at the forefront of this position’s role. Las Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world--a place that does excellent things differently. As such, innovation, creativity, and community connection are the driving factors for success in this role.

This position exists to lead game presentation for football and men’s basketball, which includes preparing scripts, coordinating game day elements, directing game day ops/production staff, creating innovative and engaging in-game activations and entertainment, and strategically using games as an opportunity to market programs and initiatives.

Additionally, this position is responsible for increasing the overall visibility, attendance, and ticket sales of assigned sports.

The Director of Marketing and Game Presentation’s efforts will also support two of UNLV Athletics’ top 5 priorities—Develop and implement the best fan experience in the country, and provide value to the University, Las Vegas Community, and State of Nevada.

With a small marketing staff in one of the country’s most competitive markets, this position is also charged with developing a strong, structured internship program in order to effectively execute department initiatives and game day activities. In addition to creating an internship program to help execute department initiatives and activations, this position will be responsible for creating a student internship program that promotes educational and professional development opportunities for interns.

This position should have a basic knowledge of NCAA rules as it pertains to assigned job duties and the scope of employment. In addition, this position will be responsible for obtaining proper guidance or approval from Athletics Compliance, prior to participating is select activities, as defined by NCAA bylaws or institutional policies.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree form a regionally accredited college or university and two (2) years related professional experience. In addition, candidates should possess the following:
• Ability to produce a live sporting event with a focus on creating an engaging and high energy atmosphere for fans and a competitive environment for respective sports teams.
• Experience executing and directing game scripts and production
• Must be highly organized with the ability to develop, administer, and execute detailed game day plans
• Ability to maintain professional attitude in high pressure situations
• Creative and innovative thinker and problem solver
• Knowledge of social media best practices
• Must be able to meet multiple deadlines while multitasking and be able to work independently with and without supervision and also be able to collaborate and work effectively with a diverse group of departments within the organization, student-athletes, coaches, staff, and visitors to campus
• Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to deal with issues, which at times may be sensitive in nature or occur in a hostile or political environment. Must also be able to keep confidentiality
• Must have ability to comply with university policies and procedures
• Specific knowledge and expertise in collegiate sports and new media, in addition to knowledge of the workings of a collegiate athletics department.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills needed
• Ability to work a non-traditional schedule, including nights, weekends, and at time, holidays
• Experience with Photoshop/video software preferred

SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
