The Assistant Softball Coach reports to the Head Softball Coach. The enhancement of our student-athletes’ academic well-being, their quality of life, athletic growth, and overall character development represent the primary mission of the Athletics Department.
Position will commence on approximately July 1, 2020.
Primary responsibilities are to assist the Head Coach in the administration, coaching and training of the program. Duties will include the following:
Training athletes during practice, paperwork for NCAA, recruiting and training athletes, scheduling, scouting opponents, game preparation and other University duties. The Assistant Coach will work with University offices such as admissions and compliance, as well as running camps and clinics.
This position must comply with all University, Athletics Department, and NCAA rules and policies. The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach in providing leadership, organization, preparation, and supervision for all practices and contests.
The Assistant Softball Coach will also communicate regularly, and work with support staff, in the following areas to assist in the implementation of the program: Business Office, Administrators, Academic Advisors, Sports Medicine, Facilities & Operations, Sports Information, Compliance Office, Equipment Room, Development Office, Marketing, Ticket Office, and Weight Room.
Division I playing or coaching experience is preferred. Experience running and organizing summer camps and clinics. Must know softball rules and development and have the ability to work effectively with student-athletes, Head Coach, athletic staff, the University and community personnel, and alumni. This position is required to perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with all NCAA, and institutional rules and regulations.
