Utah State University Eastern Volleyball is looking for a Graduate Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2020-2021 School year. This is an opportunity to get an inside look at what it takes to become a college-level coach while receiving a financial package that can help pay for graduate school. Primary Duties and Responsibilities -Assist in the recruitment of student-athletes. -Maintain and tracking equipment. -Assist the Head Coach with practices, game preparations and scouting. -Assist in logistics for both traveling to away games and management of home games. -Assist the Head Coach in roster management and supporting current student-athletes. -Assist with camps and other team events such as fundraisers, community service, etc. -Must comply with university, athletic department and NJCAA rules and regulations.
Required Qualifications •Collegiate experience playing volleyball is a requirement for the position, preference may be given to those candidates with previous coaching experience. •Must be hardworking, have a positive attitude, and have a team-first mentality. •Bachelor’s Degree •Enrollment in Utah State University Graduate Studies Program •Must have a 3.0 GPA in the last 60 credit hours and at least in the 40th percentile on the GRE or MAT
Graduate Assistantship: $10,000 assistantship, plus full tuition, and subsidized insurance is available. Student fees are to be paid by the student. Position is a 10-month appointment with summer work opportunities available.
Employment dates: Fall 2020 - Spring 2021. Year two is contingent upon satisfactory job performance. Coach Jensen is entering her fifth season as the Head Volleyball Coach at Utah State Eastern.
2019 – Record breaking season, again, for the Lady Eagles under Jensen’s leadership; winning 27 games with only 9 losses on the season. The Lady Eagles defeated multiple nationally ranked opponents and ended the season ranked 12th in the country and 2nd in Scenic West, Region 18 standings. For the first time in school history the Lady Eagles earned their spot in the SWAC Championship coming up short in a 2-3 heartbreaking loss. USU Eastern represented the conference well with 6 athletes named to 1st and 2nd all-conference teams. Outside hitter, Kiara Richardson, became the first Lady Eagle in school history to earn All-American honors. Richardson as well as opposite hitter, Sunny Perry, both received national honors during the season and were awarded the coveted NJCAA Player Of The Week for their performances. Setter Ashlee McUne ended the season ranked #1 in the country for assists. Losing only three sophomores in 2019, Jensen looks to continue to build on a successful program in 2020.
Coach Jensen is married, has four children, a USU Eastern alumni, and was born and raised in Price. Her husband, Calvin, is the recruiting coordinator for the program.
