Indiana University Kokomo seeks qualified candidates for the position of Volleyball Assistant Coach. Over the last seven years, the volleyball program has a 205-64 overall record and has only lost three conference matches in three years. The 2019 season marked the program’s fifth consecutive trip to the NAIA National Tournament and second trip to the NAIA National Tournament Final Site in Sioux City, Iowa.
Volleyball Assistant Coach: Reporting to the Head Coach, the assistant coach will assist the head coach in all facets of the program. Essential duties include, but are not limited to: Demonstrate and teach advanced volleyball skills; assist with coaching during athletic contests and practices; run small group workouts; monitor and assist with strength training program; assist with team schedule and travel, fund-raising, scouting opponents, recruiting and evaluating new players; assist with maintaining statistics and coordinating with officials; implementation of the academic program including enforcement of study tables and monitoring progress of student athletes to ensure academic eligibility; work with student athletes and monitor adherence to rules and regulations concerning conduct, team expectations, punctuality and appearance. Regular evening and weekend work required.
Bachelor’s degree required, minimum of two years volleyball coaching or playing experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift 30 lbs. Additional requirements include proficiency with Microsoft Office, excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, demonstrated orientation toward quality service and teamwork, and demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
This is an hourly, non-benefits eligible position averaging 29 hours per week over a calendar year but seasonal hours over 40 a week during peak times of year. Opportunity to earn a Master’s Degree, but not requirement.
