About the Position The Senior Associate Athletics Director (Sr. Associate AD) is a key member of the Athletics leadership team and active participant in strategic decisions affecting the day-to-day operations of Athletics Development. The Sr. Associate AD, participates in fundraising activities and donor cultivation and also serves as the primary liaison between Athletics and University Advancement. This position ensures consistency with the overall mission goals and objectives of the California State University system, San Jose State University, Mountain West Conference and NCAA compliance.
The Sr. Associate AD has management and supervision responsibilities for a team of professional associates within Athletics focused on athletics development and revenue generation and collaborates with the Director of Athletics, Vice President of University Advancement and other Intercollegiate Athletics administrators and staff on strategies and tactics for enhanced donor and alumni engagement through events, marketing campaigns, social media and other engagement tools. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
-Plan and ensure implementation of Athletics Advancement fundraising activities to support strategic initiatives. -Monitor comprehensive resource development program; improve department policies and procedures. -Ensure compliance with University fundraising policies, goals, procedures, NCAA, and conference rules. -Provide leadership to the Athletics Development team by determining fundraising plans, identifying appropriate donors, and determining solicitation strategies. -Fulfill specific goals and targets based on individual portfolio. -Maintain relationships with donors and sponsoring organizations to cultivate and maintain funding. -Represent San José State University locally, regionally, and nationally. -Collaborate with Athletics Director, VP University Advancement, Athletics staff and other Development professionals on prospect and donor strategies and goals. -Manage and direct Athletic Development staff to ensure fundraising goals are achieved. -Solicit major gift prospects with the ability to make gifts of $100,000 and more. -Conduct sufficient meaningful face-to-face interactions with donors/prospects annually to achieve revenue goals. -Develop, document and implement engagement and solicitation strategy for each assigned prospect. -Maintain a detailed record of prospect management in database.
