Executive, Executive - Associate Athletics Director

Virginia Military Institute invites applications for the full-time position of Associate Athletics Director for External Relations. This position is a senior level management position in the Virginia Military Institute Department of Intercollegiate Athletics reporting to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. This position is responsible for all external relations efforts in the department with a focus on revenue generation through sponsorship, advertising, merchandising, ticket sales, licensing and special projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
•Negotiate and execute contractual agreements with local, regional and national companies, corporations and organizations to promote Virginia Military Institute intercollegiate programs and generate external sources of revenue.
•Maintain inventory and coordinate sales of all advertising and signage in conjunction with intercollegiate events, facilities, publications, web sites and other areas.
•Provide supervision of Assistant Athletics Director for Tickets and Marketing and support individual, group and season ticket sales.
•Develop and implement a merchandise sale program to generate revenue for the department.
•Work in conjunction with Associate Athletics Director for Media Relations on all live video streaming, web based broadcasting, social media and other communications platforms to monetize these programs.
•Serve as department’s liaison to the Keydet Club.
•Provide oversight for VMI’s trademark licensing contract and Chair standing committee.
•Support Director of Intercollegiate Athletics in negotiation, implementation and management of apparel and footwear contract(s).
•Identify, negotiate and develop contracts for football and basketball halftime entertainment appropriate for the VMI constituencies that contribute to a positive game day experience.
•Manage advertiser/sponsor invoicing and provide proof of performance.
•Represent department, and VMI, in local business initiatives and community organizations.
•Design, develop and implement special events that will produce revenue for department.
•Supervise football sideline and basketball scorer’s table activities.
•Provide game management and event supervision as part of department’s facility/event oversight team.
•Script and/or approve all football and basketball public address announcements.
•Other duties as assigned by Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Experience in developing and implementing strategies relating to external affairs; and a working knowledge of NCAA regulations
