Ancient City Soccer Club in St. Augustine, FL is seeking a Competitive Director to work alongside the Executive Director to control the day to day running and growth of the St. Augustine Armada Competitive teams.
The Competitive Director must strive to provide the competitive coaches with the necessary tools to technically and tactically develop players. The Competitive Director must have a strong soccer background and technical expertise to lead the competitive coaching staff. The Competitive Director is responsible for building on the Club’s base of existing players and teams. He/she should possess strong written and oral communication skills and be able to resolve conflict in a professional manner. The Competitive Director is a part-time position that has the potential to grow into a full-time position as our Club grows. This position requires a non-traditional work schedule of daytime hours off the field (5-8 hrs.), evenings, weekends, and some holidays on the field (20 hrs.). Travel is required. The Competitive Director will have regular exposure to outdoor activities and all-weather conditions.
Competitive coach development, including hiring and termination of competitive coaching staff
Hands-on approach with tryouts, team rosters, and training schedules
Host annual Parent Orientation Nights at the conclusion of tryouts
Research and approve tournament participation for competitive teams
Work with the competitive coaches to improve the all-around development of our players. This includes:
Development pathway for all skill levels
Responsible for running a technical/skill training night once per week during the season
Head coach for 1-2 competitive Armada teams
Lead 2-3 educational training sessions per season for Ancient City Soccer Club
Periodically attend practices and games for each competitive team to provide assistance, feedback and advice
Develop an in-season “at-home” training program for players of different age groups
Attend all Club Board Meetings, and communicate with Board Members on all soccer issues
Assist Ancient City Soccer Club in building and growing the Club brand and finding corporate sponsors during the off-season
Provide semi-annual written evaluations to coaching staff
USSF “C” or higher license or NSCAA equivalent (appropriate combination of playing and coaching experience commensurate with an advanced license may be considered)
At least five years’ experience coaching youth soccer is required. Previous experience as a Competitive Director or Assistant Competitive Director strongly preferred
Bachelor Degree is strongly preferred
Strong leadership skills
Proficient use of email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

ACSC was formed in 1983 and is devoted to serving the youth of St Johns and Flagler Counties through the game of soccer. Ancient City Soccer Club is made up of three main programs – Recreational Soccer, an Academy, and our competitive teams, the St. Augustine Armada.
