Oversees the general operation and maintenance of the Athletics' weight room, along with enforcing safety procedures. Provides leadership, organization and supervision of all personnel and aspects of the Strength and Conditioning program for student athletes. -Provides leadership, organization and supervision of all personnel and aspects of the Strength and Conditioning program for student athletes. Ensures the enhancement of the physical and mental development of student-athletes through the establishment of specific training programs and activities to increase the performance of student-athletes in both practice and competition. Ensures proper techniques and designs training strategies for both injury avoidance and improved performance.
-Coordinates sports specific programs that intensify the physical strength, speed and cardiovascular conditioning of the student-athlete.
-Instructs, educates and supervises all student athletes regarding proper weight training techniques.
-Oversees the general operation and maintenance of the Athletics' weight room, along with enforcing safety procedures.
-Works within authorized budget to maintain strength room operation.
-Attends athletic events as requested and when feasible.
-Develops and coordinates the schedules of student-athletes while in the weight room.
-Monitors the progress of each student-athlete through verifiable records and maintains written documentation's regarding status.
-Develops and implements policies affecting the strength and conditioning program.
-Recruits, hires and supervises assistant strength coaches, graduate assistants, interns and appropriate staff.
-Ensures that all strength assistant coaches, program staff and the strength and conditioning program are in compliance with NCAA rules.
-Maintains communication with departmental staff, coaches and medical staff.
-Reviews, understands and abides by all department procedures.
-Maintains confidentiality for the department. Treats with utmost confidentiality and sensitivity any matter pertaining to medical, academic and personal data of student athletes and any information either directly or indirectly impacting the University and/or Athletic Department.
-Adhere to all State of Florida, University, NCAA, Conference USA and department rules and policies pertaining to the position of Assistant Director Intercollegiate Athletics.
-Report any known NCAA violations or concerns to the Director of Athletic Compliance and be responsible for the monitoring of any subordinate as it relates to NCAA regulations.
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four (4) years of experience at the high school level or above Master's degree in Exercise Science, Human Performance, Nutrition, or a related area, and two (2) years of experience at the high school level or above, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Successful experience as a graduate assistant or intern in an athletic program is acceptable with one (1) year of the required experience.
A National Strength and Conditioning Certification:
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or
Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) or
Certified Strength Coach (CSC)
