Position Summary: Valley City State University is searching for an Intern/Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for 2020 season, with potential for continued part-time/graduate assistantship. Responsibilities include developing, directing, and advancing competitive programs. This position will report directly to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and will be responsible for up to 2-3 Olympic Sports. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for assigned sports, communication with coaches, athletic training staff, assisting with nutrition education, as well as helping implement the overall training programs for all sports.
Individual must demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and commitment to compliance with Valley City State University, NSAA conference/NAIA national policies, rules, and regulations. These positions will participate in program and departmental fundraising, public relations, and promotional efforts; participate/coach/teach in program camps/clinics; and work effectively with department support services personnel to enhance the welfare and personal, social, academic, ad athletic development of student-athletes.
Compensation (Per Position): Stipend of $6,000/year. Benefit package includes a housing waiver if the applicant plans to live on campus, and a tuition waiver for 6 credits per semester (fall and spring) in a Valley City State University graduate program, if applicable.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science (or related field). Must be highly motivated with an outstanding work ethic. Successful candidates must demonstrate strong organizational skills, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, be proficient with Microsoft Office programs, and have a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous strength and conditioning internship experience preferred. Candidates should hold certification(s) and/or seeking to get certified in at least one of the major certifications. Preferences (but not limited to): CPR/AED/First Aid Certified, CSCS, USAW. Experience coaching and competing at the collegiate level.
