Soccer Without Borders USA is a 501c3 non-profit organization that uses soccer as a vehicle for positive change, providing newcomer refugee, asylee, and immigrant youth with a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion, and personal success. Our holistic programs provide youth who are traditionally excluded from extracurricular opportunities with a platform for positive engagement, an avenue for personal growth, and a toolkit for a brighter future. About SWB Seattle Soccer Without Borders (SWB) Seattle was launched in 2018 and is one of SWB’s newest locations. Beginning with partnerships at the Seattle World School and with World Relief in South King County, SWB Seattle has created strong foundations and is poised for growth under the right leadership. Our current year-round programming serves newcomer boys and girls through soccer, education, and community-building activities. Using soccer as a platform, our trauma-informed program model provides newcomer youth with a toolkit to develop personally, advance academically, build social capital, gain English language skills, and make healthy choices. SWB Seattle is one of eight Soccer Without Borders offices that collectively oversee 82 teams, 8 leagues, 8 summer camps, and 12 major community events across 26 program sites. Collectively all locations operate under one shared 501(c)(3) status, providing shared infrastructure and creating a learning community of peers. Founded in 2006, Soccer Without Borders’ work has been recognized locally, nationally, and globally as an effective model for youth development and social change, most recently winning the 2019 Beyond Sport/Dick’s Sporting Goods Collective Impact Award, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Sports Award, and the FIFA Diversity Award. About You Soccer Without Borders Program Directors are the most senior position at a given location, leading all aspects of program implementation, staffing, and partnerships, as well as local fundraising, grantwriting, budgeting, and program planning.
