Position Summary and Responsibilities Vassar College invites applications for the position of Interim Athletic Trainer. The individual will report to the Director of Sports Medicine. Weekend, holiday, early morning and/or late evening hours are required. Responsibilities:
Responsible for working with the Director of Sports Medicine in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, referral and rehabilitation of injuries/illnesses of student-athletes;
Assisting in the daily health care of student-athletes and athletic training room operation;
Recording and maintaining appropriate medical records for treatment given;
Daily practice coverage and travel responsibilities;
Assisting with the scheduling of appointments for treatment and the coordination of health insurance related processes;
Opportunity to participate as a preceptor in clinical instruction of athletic training students;
Other duties as assigned.
Starting date for this position is January 6, 2020 through May 2020. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. Vassar College athletics programs are conducted in compliance with policies, procedures and regulations of Vassar College, the NCAA and the Liberty League.
Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training required, Master's degree in related field preferred;
NATABOC Certification required,
State of New York Licensure/Certificate required(must have prior to employment);
One to three years' experience required; three to five years' experience at the collegiate level preferred;
Prior successful experience in the field with evidence of the ability to relate well to students, department members, and colleagues.
Must have strong work ethic, strong rehabilitation skills, ability to multi-task, and demonstrated ability to work independently;
Clear understanding of the NCAA Division III philosophy, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in ATS injury software is preferred;
A valid driver's license, official academic transcript(s) and the successful result of a background check are required;
Must be able to work on weekends and evenings and limited travel.
