The Athletics Academic Coordinator will support the academic needs of student-athletes in assigned sports and assist in the day-to-day operation of Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS). Sports will be assigned upon hiring.
The Athletics Academic Coordinator assists student-athletes with academic progress in areas including academic study skills and learning strategies; educates student-athletes on NCAA, conference, and institutional eligibility requirements; and, in conjunction with campus advisors, guides student-athletes on course and major selection and career planning. The Academic Coordinator meets with student-athletes on a regular basis to monitor academic progress and review eligibility status. Additionally, the Academic Coordinator will provide detailed reports and updates to coaches, compile semester grade/eligibility reports, and assist with the preparation of each assigned team’s Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR). The Academic Coordinator participates in recruiting activities, orientation, and SAAS events.
This position reports to the Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services.
Experience in academic advising of students or related student services field
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated effectiveness working collaboratively with colleagues and coaches
Master’s degree in appropriate discipline
Working knowledge of NCAA eligibility rules and regulations
Experience in academic support services of student-athletes
Experience with Academic Progress Rate and Graduation Success Rate process and submission
