Provides support for the day-to-day operation of the Athletics Academic Services Department including:
Serve as primary academic liaison and mentor to student-athletes for designated sport programs, including baseball and men's/women's track and field, in accordance with NCAA, Ohio Valley Conference and University policies
Advise and monitor the academic progress of these student-athletes and others, as directed
Apply NCAA standards to determine continuing eligibility status and provide guidance related to consequences of enrollment decisions
Provide learning strategies for at-risk student-athletes by offering proactive, early, sustained and individualized support to enhance academic success and develop independent learners
Participate in freshman and transfer orientation programs
Maintain current and accurate student-athlete files
Implement and coordinate all NCAA student-athlete development programs including day-to-day coordination of the of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
Generate appropriate academic reports and summaries
Provide support for departmental APR progress initiatives pertaining to retention, eligibility, and completion
Experience working with students in a higher education setting
Experience with NCAA rules and regulations
Demonstrated proficiency in a Microsoft environment
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to communicate effectively with coaches, faculty, staff and student athletes from diverse backgrounds
Ability to work evenings and weekends
Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
