The Assistant Director of Marketing and Sales will determine a comprehensive marketing strategy, including the development and management of marketing plans, to promote 42 varsity teams and recreation. Additionally, this position will collaborate closely with the Athletics ticket office, as well as external consultants, vendors and organizations to increase revenue through ticket, sponsorship, merchandise and concessions sales efforts. Manages and directs marketing related work for one ticket office assistant, interns and game-day staff. Reports to the Associate Director of Athletics, Marketing and Sales.
•Develops and manages marketing plans to generate revenue, increase attendance and enhance awareness of Harvard Athletics, with an emphasis on team and gender equity. •Oversees budget to support strategy and plans. •Creates strategic messaging to a diverse audience through social media, email marketing campaigns and promotional activities. •Uses data analytics and independent judgement to develop and assess marketing and advertising initiatives. •Determines ticket sales strategies in conjunction with the Athletic Ticket Office and the Aspire Group to increase attendance and achieve ticket sales revenue goals. •Determines, implements and evaluates advertising sales campaigns to maximize ticket sales. •Identifies effective ways to deliver consistent branding and graphic identity through all marketing materials and digital channels. •Hires external vendors to complete creative services, promotional and technical projects. •Develops programming and support services for the Chief Marketing Officer student-athlete program and “CrimZone” app incentive program for Harvard students. •Represents Harvard Athletics among a variety of external and internal constituents, including community members, fans, sponsors, businesses, alumni, staff, students and University departments to build community and pride in Harvard. •Develops and implements plan to ensure positive fan experience at games. •Serves as primary marketing liaison at select post-season events. •Develops strategy for corporate sponsorships sales including identification of target accounts. •Negotiates and closes sponsorship sales agreements and meets annual revenue sales goal. •Directs all fulfillment efforts on behalf of corporate sponsorship contracts and determines how to meet client needs. •Acts as liaison with 3rd party sales team (JMI). •Utilizes creativity in developing and deciding upon unique and applicable inventory to sell. •Oversees and develops sales strategy for growing merchandise sales through online, onsite and royalty revenue streams to reach stretch goals of $50K annually. •Analyzes sales data to determine effectiveness of sales initiatives. •Builds innovative programs and promotions to increase concessions revenue and collaborates with concessions team to ensure efficient and positive customer experience. •Develops new sales channels to generate income. •Oversees game-day management including scripts, promotions, customer service, band, cheerleaders, dance team and special initiatives.
