The University of North Carolina Charlotte, North Carolina’s urban research university (www.uncc.edu), seeks a Director of the Athletic Advising Center. This is a 12-month professional staff position and is expected to begin in January, 2020. The Charlotte 49ers Athletic Academic Center is committed to assisting all Charlotte varsity student-athletes to achieve academic and personal success at the University by providing support services designed to meet their unique needs and ensuring student-athlete compliance with all National Collegiate Athletic Association, Conference and University regulations. The Assistant Dean of the Office of Undergraduate Education (UGE) and Director of the University Advising Center has two major responsibilities. The Director has full administrative authority and discretion within constraints of the University and NCAA policies for designing the programs and services of the Athletic Academic Center, serving as a liaison to all colleges and divisions for the purpose of focusing on academic support of student-athletes, and evaluating effectiveness of educational outcomes. The Director is expected to work both independently and in a team environment. In consideration of this administrative authority, the Director is expected to maintain documentation of all pertinent academic information for student-athletes and teams and to seek guidance from the Associate Dean for Advising and Graduation, Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education, and Athletic Director as needed.
At least 5+ years in academic advising in support programs working with NCAADivision I student-athletes.
