Under administrative supervision from the Deputy Director, the Assistant Director of External Affairs is responsible for the direction, coordination, and oversight of all aspects of special events in the Intercollegiate Athletics department. These events include, but are not limited to, the Red & Black Gala, SIUE Athletics Hall of Fame, fundraising campaigns, annual Golf Scramble, SIUE Day, Friends of Cougar Basketball events, the SIUE Experience, and Cougar Pavilion events. The Assistant Director must work within budgetary limitations and comply with all NCAA, conference and University rules and regulations. Additionally, this position will manage the department's Adidas contract operations related to product ordering, contract fulfillment, order fulfillment, invoice processing, and represent SIUE Athletics as staff liaison to Adidas. Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of the department’s mission and goals. Due to the professional responsibilities of this position, occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.

1. Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Student Affairs, or a closely related field. 2. A total of one (1) year (12 months) professional work experience in Event Planning, Conference Management, Public Relations, Communication, Marketing, or any other related field.
