The Associate Athletics Director for Major Gifts will serve as a front-line development officer housed in the department of athletics at the University of New Mexico reporting to the Vice President of University Development at the UNM Foundation. The Associate AD for Major Gifts will work closely with the Director of Athletics, coaching staff and Lobo Club staff to identify, cultivate and solicit major gifts ($25k and above). UNM Athletics participates in the NCAA Division I and is a founding member the Mountain West Conference supporting nearly 14 student-athletes in 18 different sports.

The UNM Foundation was established in 1979 as an incorporated nonprofit corporation. The Foundation began operations in the spring of 1980, conducting all of its operations through a University department. At that time, University units hired development professionals and limited staff to provide direct fund raising and other support to programmatic initiatives for philanthropy.

The successful candidate will serve as the senior development officer for UNM Athletics.
In order to develop private financial support for the University of New Mexico, the University's Board of Regents established the UNM Foundation Inc. in 1979, in the form of a separately legal incorporated nonprofit corporation.
The Foundation began operations in the spring of 1980 conducting all of its operations through a University department, Office of Institutional Advancement. At that time, University units hired development professionals and limited staff to provide direct fund raising and other support to programmatic initiatives for philanthropy. Since its creation and in accordance with University policy, all private gifts are received through the Foundation, which has the responsibility for managing contributions to all University programs. Gifts to the UNM Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law
