A national research university, Carnegie Mellon is a member of the NCAA Division III and University Athletic Association. Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Athletics is searching for an Equipment Manager.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics, this position oversees day-to-day operations of athletic equipment room management for assigned sports. The Equipment Manager is expected to maintain, prepare, and issue uniforms and equipment to assigned sports teams; provide daily laundering of uniforms, loops and towels; repair and maintain athletic equipment; monitor and update inventory and records; ensure equipment and uniform issue, collection and maintenance procedures are executed in a timely manner. The successful candidate will have responsibilities for event set-up and breakdown, facility maintenance, and will hire, train and supervise student workers for equipment room and event management needs. Core responsibilities will include:
Accountability: Responsible for overseeing efficient issue and return of athletic equipment and for keeping accurate inventory of records. Also ensuring athletic equipment and facilities are in working order. Need for accurate log records.
Direction: Performs under general supervision from Associate Athletic Director. Normal duties performed with the use of established policies and procedures. Must work directly with head and assistant coaches. All difficult or unique situations are referred to the supervisor.
Decisions: Responsible for day-to-day creative problem solving and troubleshooting as problems arise.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position may distribute work to work study and temporary employees. Works with students assigned to equipment rooms. Also, must train other equipment mangers so they know what to do when covering on PTO days.

High school or GED
1 - 3 years relevant work experience preferred
Comfortable with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook
Ability to stand for long periods of time, to climb steps or ladders, to stoop, to reach, to bend at waist, to grasp, tom move and/or lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be available to work nights and weekends
