Iowa Western Athletics is hiring a Part-Time Wrestling Coach/Dorm Assistant to join our exciting and student-focused team at our beautiful SW Iowa Campus, in Council Bluffs Iowa. This position will have general supervision received from the Head Coach, Athletic Director and Residence Life Coordinator. The Part-time Wrestling Assistant Coach/Dorm Assistant will be required live on campus in an assigned housing facility. The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Wrestling Coach in providing student athletes with a quality experience that includes having a positive effect academically, athletically, and socially while attending IWCC. The Assistant Coach will assist the Residence Life staff with conduct issues and concerns of student-athletes living on-campus, be responsible for building positive relationships with the Residence Life staff and the Council Bluffs Police Officers working in the buildings, and be responsible for monitoring student-athletes conduct at meal times in the cafeteria.
The Part-time Wrestling Assistant Coach/Dorm Assistant will be required live on campus in an assigned housing facility.
Qualifications: An Associate’s Degree or equivalent and background and experience working with college level students and student-athletes is required. A Bachelor's degree and 3 years experience working with college level students and student-athletes is preferred.
Additional qualifications include occasional lifting of 10 lbs., ability to sit for extended periods of time, use hands to operate a computer keyboard, telephone and other basic office equipment, ability to assist with facility set-up by climbing stairs, ladders, and moving moderately heavy equipment, and work indoors or outdoors at athletics facilities. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear and use a phone, and some travel including by vehicle may be required. Reading, writing, calculating, social interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, ability work with minimal supervision, have a high degree of problem-solving and interpersonal skills, and ability to pass a background check.
