The Manager of Food Purchasing and Operations for Athletics will be the direct support for the Performance Nutrition team. In this position, the manager will plan, direct, and/or coordinate the purchasing, ordering and tracking of all food service activities as it relates to meals, fuel zones and Gatorade stations within the Performance Nutrition department.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Purchasing/Ordering: maintain records of goods ordered and received, locate vendors of materials, equipment or food supplies, and interview them in order to determine product availability and terms of sales, represent Performance Nutrition in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers and vendors prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for materials, equipment or food supplies, review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to needs of Performance Nutrition, develop and implement purchasing contracts in line with athletic department policy and procedures, prepare bid awards requiring board approval as needed, participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute foods or materials, resolve vendor grievances, direct and coordinate activities of athletic staff engaged in meal ordering and refueling/snack requests, administer and monitor on-line purchasing systems for meals and fuel zone or refueling kitchens, control and monitor Performance Nutrition fuel zone/refueling kitchens budgets, monitor Gatorade station's cost and usage, prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs, analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future availability of materials, equipment and food supplies, arrange for disposal of surplus materials. Meals/Menus: monitor adherence to guidelines by vendors including Levy, track and record all unacceptable food service, biannual cost analysis on meals, monitor need to increase or decrease team monies for performance meals, monthly balance of quote, biannual menu development and refresh, annual contractual agreement vendor renewals or changes, biannual education to coaches and teams on guidelines. Fuel Zones:biannual cost analysis of fuel zones, tracking of trends, tracking of pricing variance. Continual inventory management, monitoring of new products and of sport team movements. Gatorade: biannual cost analysis of Gatorade usage and tracking of trends.Continual inventory management and monitoring of sport team movements. Bachelor's degree in operation or purchasing management, or a related area. Required: minimum of 2 years experience in food service purchasing and/or operations, experience using with the Catertraks software system preferred.
