The Athletics Department at The College at Brockport, State University of New York is comprised of 23 sports and is accepting applications for the position of Sports Information Director. The position is responsible to develop and coordinate a comprehensive and integrated marketing communications program including media and public relations, publications, Website, social media, and e-communications and advertising. This is a full-time, 12 month position that reports to the Director of Athletics.
The Sports Information Director reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for all aspects of publicizing the 23 intercollegiate athletic programs at Brockport. The position will develop and coordinate a comprehensive and integrated marketing communications program including media and public relations, publications, advertising, promotional items, signage, Web site, social media, and e-communications to help achieve the goals of the College’s Athletic program. The successful incumbent will ensure that information about Brockport's Athletics programs is available to the public in a timely and effective manner by developing and coordinating a comprehensive program of sports coverage which focuses on both the competitive and non-competitive activities and includes information on student-athletes and teams. The responsibilities include:
provide timely updates to supporters through the dissemination of news releases, alumni and booster newsletters and other publications. website development, implementation and maintenance. development and implementation of a social media plan. responsible for managing all in-game operations for statistics, score keeping and public address of all athletic events. implementation of video streaming and live stats for athletic events. maintain a comprehensive system for filing records and statistics for all sports. responsible for the maintenance of Brockport Athletics historical data including the Hall of Fame. responsible for all results and statistical reporting to NCAA and conference affiliates. prepare staff and student award nominations. fan promotions and event marketing. hire, train and supervise student interns and student workers to assist with office functions. assist with intercollegiate event management.
Bachelor’s Degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university. Minimum three years’ experience in a sports information program at the collegiate level. State of the art communication, marketing, and public relations skills. Stat Crew or equivalent statistical software experience. Evenings and weekends required. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Master’s Degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university. 3 - 5 years’ experience in a sports information program at the intercollegiate level. Experience in development of website design and management. Experience with implementation of athletics communications and marketing plan.
