Athletic Trainer 3
Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking candidates to fill the role of Athletic Trainer. Responsibilities include coordination and delivery of Athletic Training and sports medicine services for assigned student-athletes. Primary sports for this position will be Women's Basketball. You will perform assessments and provide initial care for athletic injuries; coordinate rehabilitation with team physicians; design therapeutic intervention; and establish individual exercise programs for specific conditions. You will also prepare student athletes for practices and games; apply taping and special padding and bracing techniques; supervise athletic training students (must serve as Preceptor to athletic training students as assigned); handle treatment scheduling; oversee medical records; maintain/update rehabilitation progress reports; report injuries to NEXTT Data System (ensure HIPAA/FERPA compliance); maintain athletic training facility; inventory of equipment and supplies; participate in meetings; athletic clinics and camps. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus seven years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Current B.O.C. Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing and eligible for Athletic Trainer Certification within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required. Certified Health Care Provider (CPR/AED) required. Physical effort required for practice/game preparation and positioning athlete's body during emergency care management and rehabilitation. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
