The incumbent’s duties include: Coordinate and monitor the academic success of assigned teams (WSO, MSW, WSW, BAS) including weekly meetings with athletes, coordinating academic reports, communicating with faculty and coaches. Assists with initial and continuing eligibility. Teaches a freshmen introduction to the university course, PHED 202 (fall only). Coordinates Total Retriever Programing to include community service. Coordinates AEC/NCAA academic awards. Assists with the recruitment of new student-athletes and performing other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services for Student-Athletes.
Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in counseling, education, special education, curriculum and instruction, sports psychology or sport related field. Two to three years of professional experience working with student-athletes as a learning specialist, or in an academic advising, teaching, counseling roll, preferably at a Division I level; excellent communication and organizational skills; experience working with students from diverse backgrounds are required. N4A membership, understanding of NCAA/AEC rules and regulations, and experience with PeopleSoft and GradesFirst desired.
